 South African male team …In 9th AfHF Nations Cup African hockey elites South Africa demonstrated high level brilliance in the just-ended AfHF Cup for Nations, and consequently clinched almost all the prestigious awards in a colourful closing ceremony at the national hockey stadium, Accra on Saturday.They confirmed their superiority over their arch-rivals Egypt, beating them 4-1 in the final to lift the trophy having gone past them 2-1 in the group stage. Similarly, their female side thumped Ghana 5-1 to retain the title. |

 Ghana's Men Team Speedster Joseph Appiah struck in extra time to give Ghana's male hockey side bronze in the cagey Ghana-Nigeria third place 3-2 game of the 9th AfHF hockey tourney in Accra on Friday.The Nigerians fought from two goals down to pull parity, sending the game to extra time but the host demonstrated an above average performance to finish third in the well organized hockey fiesta.The win was the Ghanaians first in the competition which sent them jubilating for a long time after the clash, having lost to the same side 1-2 at the group stage. |
